Башня "Салхино"

Башня Салхино (груз. სალხინო) располагается на северной окраине села Вашловани.

Эта башня была построена не для того, чтобы защищаться, а для пиров и развлечений. Название "Салхино" в переводе с грузинского означает "праздник".

На то, что это чудо архитектуры строилось не для обороны, указывет дата основания - 1811 год. Т.е. Грузия - уже в составе Российской империи, да и столь хрупкие крепости не имело смысла строить, если у противника есть артиллерия. Впрочем, все княжеские замки, появившиеся в XIX в., которые почему-то называют "крепостями", это всего лишь дань традициям, что ли.

Башня располагается на окраине села, на небольшой возвышенности. Наверное, в этом есть особый смысл - виды открываются хорошие.Уже более 100 лет князья здесь не веселятся. Но башня до сих пор оправдывает свое название - судя по количеству разбитых стаканов и золы в каминах.  

 

 

Над входом в башню красуется герб рода Орбелиани (он же Джамбакур-Орбелиани). Это одна из ветвей княжеского рода Бараташвили. Иногда можно встретить название "герб Бараташвили-Орбели".

Имперская корона (наверху) появилась на всех гербах княжеских родов, после присоединения Грузии к Российской Империи.

Усадьба Джамбакур-Орбелиани находится в деревне Ламискана (Карта). Это уже Шида-Картли, Каспский район. Сейчас там музей. Опять таки строение стилизовано под крепость. Если "крепость" могла защитить, то максимум от бунтов.
