Отель Лондон (Hotel de Londres)

Располагается на ул. Атонели, 31. В Тбилиси это одно из немногих зданий с сохранившейся росписью парадного. Сейчас это жилой дом. Интерьер в довольно плачевном состоянии, но пока есть на что посмотреть и восхититься.

Кутаисский собор Александра Невского

Когда-то в Кутаиси на центральной площади стоял собор. Но  просуществовал он всего полвека.
Разрушили храм в первые годы эпохи советизации Грузии. После этого площадь, где стоял собор, не раз меняла свой облик. Сейчас в центре площади располагается Колхский фонтан.

Один из эпизодов Российско-Грузинской войны 1921 года. Бои за Тбилиси велись с 18 по 25 февраля, против превосходящей по численности 11-ой армии.

Середина X века - первая треть XI века. Своеобразная эпоха Грузинской истории. В этот период (начало XI в.) Баграт III стал царем Картли, Тао-Кларджети (правда эти территории вскоре отойдут Византии) и Абхазии. В 1010 году Баграт III идет войной на Кахети-Эрети, окончательно присоединенный только в 1104 г. при Давиде Строителе. С царствования Баграта III начался "золотой век". Пока еще существует Ташир-Дзорагетское царство с столицей в Самшвилде, сильно ослабленный Тбилисский Эмарат просуществует еще около века.
И в этот период происходят интересные процессы в развитии архитектуры.

Фундук. Караван-сарай

 

Слово произошло от персидского "Керуен-Сарай" (перс. کاروان‌سرا). Это постоялый двор для караванов. Строились такие постоялые дворы на торговых путях и в городах.
В грузинском языке это слово претерпело изменения, превратившись в "карвасла" (груз. კარვასლა). До того, как в обиход вошло слово с персидскими корнями, постоялые дворы назывались фундуками (араб. فندق‎‎ - "фундук"). Очевидно арабское влияние. Стоит только вспомнить про Тбилисский эмират - исламское государственное образование, существовавшее под эгидой Арабского халифата в Восточной Грузии с 736 по 1122 годы.
